Common House Spider, widow, red-back and other theridiids
The cobwebs around houses all over the world are the work of the secretive little common (American) house spider, Achaearanea sp. But there are lots of other species in the huge family, Theridiidae - the spiders shaped like the widow spiders and red-backs. They are great to watch and blog! |

Groovy spiders - who don't fit the other forums
There are so many spiders, that this forum is for the really interesting ones who don;t fit the major groups already given. Or just because you think they really deserve the 'groovy' title! |

Mygalomorphs - trapdoors, Australian funnel-webs and mouse spiders
This is the place to talk about the 'primitive' spiders. Tarantulas belong in this group, but they have their own forum. Creating a fantastic variety of burrows around the world, these guys live long - over 20 years, if not 30! So this is where you can make a long term blog - very long term. |

Spider intelligence
A forum for the general discussion of observations and opinions on the intelligence of these critters that many consider to be just little machines. Watching them soon changes that idea! But just how intelligent are they? And how do we know? |

family Trochanteriidae - including Morebilus plagusius
This is self-indulgence on the part of the board owner. I am really keen to get people watching out for flat rock/ flat bark spiders. These spiders are very very flat and superfically like the huntsmen - and common along the east coast of Australia - but there are no behaviour studies that I can find. I am REALLY keen to talk about this one! And any other Trochanteriidae, sometimes called scorpion spiders - weird lot that they are! |

Arachnophobia
This is the place to tell about one of the most common fears in the world - the fear of spiders. It is also one of the most irrational. That doesn't stop it being horrendously scary! |

Links to identification web sites
This forum is to put links to identification sites - those with good pictures and which you think are pretty likely to be accurate. The subject heading should have the name - so if it is a totally different area, then start a new topic. e.g. Australian spiders - Queensland. That will help people know which is the best to check. |

Spiders and birds
Spiders have a critical relationship with birds. Their behaviour is very much defined by avoiding such a significant predator. This forum is for observations about spiders and birds to give a bigger picture of the world in which spiders live. |

Other Animals - any animals in the wild
There are other animals on the planet apart from spiders. Granted- they aren't quite as amazing - but they are still great to chat about. Given that people who watch spiders must also be observing other animals in their natural habitats, we should have a forum to talk about them too. So here it is! We'll even be nice about those dreadful spider-eating birds! |

General chatter
We spiderbloggers also have other aspects to our lives. Clearly they are not as important as spiders but we will chat about them anyway. General chatter is welcome - but a warning. This is not a democratic board - it is ruled by moderators. Anything not suitable for school kids will be deleted. |
